Surprise! Surprise! Surprise!

Surprise #1:  On December 6th, I found out that I was pregnant.  Since Lee and I were not trying to expand our family, this was a shocking discovery.  Once I accepted the fact that God had a different plan for us, I became extremely worried about the safety of the baby since we had recently visited Disney World (and I had ridden many of the roller coasters that pregnant women are instructed to avoid).  As a result, I called and scheduled a consultation with my doctor for the coming Friday.

Surprises #2 and 3:  I began the morning of December 10th at the doctor's office.  After assuring me that the attractions of Disney World would not harm the baby, the doctor questioned me in regards to the date of conception.  Since I had no clue, the doctor decided to go ahead and do an ultrasound.  I was definitely surprised, but excited to have some definitive information.  As usual, the ultrasound technician told me that she would get all of the measurements she needed before turning the screen around for me to see.  Once she was finished, she lifted her hand to turn the screen and told me that she had a surprise.  She then proceeded to tell me that there were two babies.  Needless to say, I was completely shocked and overwhelmed by the news.  I began crying, and my mind began racing with numerous thoughts of the changes and challenges to come.  However, my tears turned into those of joy after hearing the heartbeats of my twins.  What an amazing gift from God!

Please join me in praying for the safety of the twins as well as the overall well-being of our family as we adjust to the changes that God has in store for us.
